Actinomycin D belongs to the class of polypeptide antibiotics and is isolated from bacteria of the genus Streptomyces. Actinomycin D acts by interfering with mRNA synthesis. Actinomycin D is used as a selective antibiotic for resistant bacteria, generally at a concentration of about 1 µg/ml. This product is provided as a powder and should be made into a stock solution at 1 mg/ml in DMSO. Life Technologies also offers a variety of cell culture antibiotics.
